1997 "Sassicaia" DOC Bolgheri, Tenuta San Guido
A hot and somewhat dry growing season produced a bold, rich Sassicaia that seemed like a lesser 1988. It has an intense, ruby-garnet color and ethereal, wrapping and slightly evolved aromas with notes of tamarind and sour cherry jam, followed by those of damp earth and some hints of chocolate-covered cherries.
