2018 "Jesuitengarten" Riesling GG, Geheimer Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan

Mittleres Zitronengelb, in der Nase zeigt sich der Jesuitengarten mit hellen Aromen wie Pampelmuse und etwas Ingwer. Am Gaumen hat der Wein Tiefe und Spannung. Die Säure und Mineralität führen zu einem saftigen, langen Abgang. Noch ist er recht verschlossen aber nach einigen Jahren wird sich ein typischer Vertreter dieser Spitzenlage zeigen. Mit eleganter Frucht, viel Mineralität und animierender Säure.

„The 2018 Riesling GG Jesuitengarten "VDP. Grosse Lage" is deep, precise and intense on the well-defined and spicy-aromatic nose. Lush and piquant on the palate, this is a very elegant, complex and salty-crystalline Jesuitengarten of great class and style. The wine is tight, refined and elegant and reveals a long and persistent finish. Great harmony yet also tension here. A modern classic. Tasted in Deidesheim in December 2019.
Gunther Hauck and chief winemaker Uli Mell can be proud of presenting one of the best series of 2018 Riesling grand crus with (sweet) and without (dry) predicates in the Mittelhardt. Not only were the yields excellent but the wines show clarity, finesse and purity as well as ripe and precise fruit that exemplarily represents the particular terroirs and in the typically elegant Bassermann style. Even though the analytics indicate a lower acidity for the 2018s than for the 2017s, the wines are fresh and laser sharp without being too intellectual.“
