2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos du Château" Monopole, Domaine Armand Rousseau
The 2016 Gevrey Chambertin Clos du Château is matured entirely in used oak. It has a lovely, pretty, fruit-driven bouquet with lifted pure strawberry and Morello cherry scents, airy in style. The palate has a candied quality on the entry, a fine bead of acidity with tart red fruit defining the slightly abrupt finish that should gain flesh after bottling.
Wine Spectator:
"This expressive red shows density and a core of pure, ripe cherry flavors. The bracing acidity keeps this focused, while accents of incense, cardamom and cumin add depth and interest. Balanced and lingering, with well-integrated tannins on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2036. 67 cases imported."
