2015 EL VELADO, Rioja DOCa, Bodega Lanzaga

El Velado is an old and beautiful vineyard located at a height of 600 meters. It is the first vineyard of which we are captivated in Lanciego and the one that, probably, is the best expression of the beauty and singularity of this place. It was also part of Altos Lanzaga until this first bottling. El Velado was planted in the eastern part of the town of Lanciego, and for the most part it is oriented to the west and south, enjoying a warmer light. Due to this exposure, the traditional grafting was done mostly with Garnacha and Tempranillo and with some other ancient varieties, including some white ones. Its 80 years, its size and the sculptural shape of its bushvines, make this a very special vineyard, full of light, which we wanted to bottle and express separately.

Exuberant, ripe raspberries, plums and boysenberries. Super pure, youthful fruit here. The palate is cradled in web-like, fine and crisp tannins threaded with spice and pure, succulent red cherries and raspberries to close.
