1993 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru AOC, Domaine Bonneau du Martray
1993 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Domaine Bonneau du Martray I recently had the pleasure of tasting this delightful Corton. It is bright, racy and focused, with length and minerality. It is not a fat style, but shows such persistence it could only be Grand Cru Corton Charlemagne. It has enough bottle age that it has just settled down and begun to drink well. Classic Corton Charlemagne from a great producer, for the same as the current vintage! (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer)
Allen Meadows: "Intensely mineral nose with fine detail, minerality and fruit with a greenish edge followed by supremely elegant, intensely stony flavors and a solid acid spine. Though this does not offer grand cru volume in the mouth, the character is classic Corton-Charlemagne. This is on the ascendancy and while 2003 should see it begin to drink well, it should hold at this level for a number of years."
Wine Spectator:
"Firm and elegant, with a solid, racy structure. Enticing smoke, spice, mineral and pear flavors turn to beautiful cream and mineral on the finish.
