2017 "Accendo" Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, Accendo Cellars

Bart und Daphne Araujo haben schon Anfang der 1990er Jahre, im Eisele Vineyard, begonnen mit biodynamischen Anbau, um der Natur Respekt zu zollen.
2013 hat die Familie das Weingut Accendo Cellars mit einem starken Team gegründet und damit markierten sie den Beginn eines vielversprechenden neuen Paradigmas. Die Weine sind sehr konzentriert und kraftvoll mit langem Abgang. In der Nase findet man erdige Aromen mit Noten von exotischen Gewürzen, weissen Blumen, Lavendel, sowie dezente ätherischen Düfte. Schwarzkirsche, rote Lakritze, Himbeeren und Preiselbeeren sorgen am Gaumen für eine Aromen-Explosion.  

The complex aromatics of this wine are expressive and brooding, with saturated brambly fruit aromas, seasoned with savory herbs of sage and bay leaf, and traces of mint and forest floor. There is an earthy clay component with notes of hoisin, baking spices and black tea. In the mouth, the wine comes alive with great depth and ample tannins coating the palate, finishing with a lingering minerality of wet stone. Notes from winemaker Nigel Kinsman, “This complex wine has a confident and alluring presence with its aromatic intensity, tension and grip complementing the full flavors of blue and black fruits, exotic spices and fine tannins.”

Bottled just two months ago, the 2017 is still very closed, and will also probably always have quite a bit of tannic heft, but it also has more than enough fruit to develop well for many years to come.
